Where does gratitude come into play? I believe I was commenting on my experience of commerce at McDonalds. I paid them a fee and they provided a product. As such I am under no obligation or expectation of gratitude. Now if I was walking by and they handed me a sandwich for free there would be a sense of gratitude for getting it for free. But no, I paid for it. There was an expectation and that expectation was not met.
Take for instance your life. You go to school and you expect to be educated. Are you expected to be grateful? (were you successfully educated?)
If you are really worried about the people who would love a grain of rice, what have you done to help them? Or does flinging dirt from your tower of privilege make you the champion of the poor?
