Polyurethane (Latin for Many Urines), a durable compound used in almost everyday coatings. First discovered by German scientist Hanz Blicks in 1946 shortly after the scientist split up during the invasion of WWII Germany. The raw compounds of Polyurethane were brought to Hanz's attention by a janitor who had stains in the lavatory that would not come out. These stains were the fusion of the urine of many of the scientists and other office workers.
Amazed by the durability of the fused urine, he took samples back to his lab for reverse engineering. After 3 years, he was able to synthetically produce the compound without the foul smell. This is basically the same compound that is used today.
